Ferrari looks to improve further on in Canada – Formula 1
Ferrari will be looking to improve going into the Canadian Grand Prix.
The team has been suffering from serious technical woes ever since the car came out for the first pre-season test. The win at the Malaysian Grand Prix gave the team hope of a better season performance despite the below par car but later races showed just
how far behind was the F2012 relative to other leading cars on the grid.
After the in season Mugello test Ferrari has been able to introduce an update package that has improved the cars performance considerably. Alonso has been able to secure two podium finishes since the update package and is now leading the drivers’ championship.
Felipe Massa has not been in the best of forms since the start of the season and has been struggling to regain it. The car issues did not help him but now that the car has improved he still has not been able to come up with the desired results. Just how
long will Ferrari keep on having faith in his ability to bring the goods remain to be seen but it is clear that the Spaniard is dragging the Brazilian along.
Team president Luca di Montezemolo anticipated an improved season after the disappointing 2011 campaign. Team was also worried about the car’s overall performance and after listening to technical director Pat Fry’s comments about the team’s prospect of the
season. Fry had predicted after the pre-season test performance of the team that hitting podiums is going to be difficult.
It will be interesting to see how Ferrari will perform at the Canadian Grand Prix it will be crucial for the team to make sure that Alonso finishes ahead of Sebastian Vettel in order to maintain his lead in the season. So far the season has seen six different
winners out of the six races.
The trick to perform at the Canadian GP will be to get ahead initially and maintain the lead as the track is really fast with long straights. The track is well suited for DRS zones and KERS.
