Ferrari names its 2011 car ‘F150’
Ferrari proudly announced the name of its 2011 Formula One car earlier today, calling it ‘F150’. While announcing the name of the car, the famous Italian team expressed immense joy as it is looking forward to a very strong season ahead with this ‘super speed’
car.
The team revealed that the car gets its name from the fact that Ferrari is celebrating 150th anniversary of the Italian unification this year. The team announced earlier this month that the car will be launched on 28th of January, which
makes it the first team to unveil its 2011’s package. The ceremony will be held outside the Ferrari factory at Maranello while the team will leave for the first pre-season test session on the 31st of January.
The practice is scheduled to begin on 1st of February and will stretch upon three days at Valencia. Some of the teams like Renault and Sauber are expected to launch their cars on the 31st of January. While other teams such as Mercedes
GP, Red Bull, and Team Lotus will hit the track for the first time with their cars on the 1st of February at Valencia. So far, Force India and McLaren are the only teams that have decided to run the first test with the interim version of their last
year’s cars.
While talking to the reporters earlier this week Ferrari declared that it was really happy for being able to complete its 2011’s package ahead of the other teams. It also proclaimed that all the people in the factory have worked really hard to make the car
as good as they can.
As the Ferrari president, Luca di Montezemolo revealed the name of the car he stated, "All the men and women who put so much effort and passion into their work at Maranello share the pride and responsibility of representing our country around the world and
it is in this spirit that we chose to dedicate this car to an event that is so important for the whole of Italy,"
He further added very proudly that Giorgio Napolitano, the president of the Italian Republic, "took the opportunity to wish the Scuderia the best of luck for the forthcoming season" when he was told about the car's name.
Last year’s car of the Italian team was called F11, and was considered to be the second fastest car on the 2010 tracks, while Red Bull Racing owned the fastest one.
