Ferrari plan to bring new upgrades for upcoming Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari have said that they plan to bring more upgrades to their new car at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix, scheduled to be held on June 12, 2011.
The team boss Stefano Domenicali mentioned that for better results in this season, they have to focus on bringing new parts in the next race weekend. He further added that the next two races, to be held in Canada and Europe respectively, were very important
for them, as they are moving in the right direction after the recent Monaco race.
Domenicali believes his driver Fernando Alonso will surprise the viewers by putting up his best show at the Canadian circuit.
Alonso has discussed the team’s performance in the season so far, and said that the team has to deliver better features to the car for further race successes.
He added, “I've been talking to the engineers about the new parts we will have in Montreal, but above all, of the steps forward we must take for Silverstone, when we will be back at a track which requires a lot of aerodynamic downforce. That's where we will
really see how our season is going to pan out.”
The Ferrari boss also planned to make an assessment before the season’s summer break, in which they will decide what things can help them improve further.
He said, “We are not giving up. The situation in the two championships continues to become more difficult. But now we're coming up on two races in which, on paper, we should be competitive. Then, before the summer break, we'll make an assessment.”
In recently held Monaco Grand Prix, the Spaniard impressed the team by finishing his run on the podium. Despite his second place finish in the Monaco GP, he admitted that Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel was favourite to win the 2011 title after winning five
out of the six races in the season so far.
The seventh round of the season will take place in Canada in about ten days. Let’s see how Alonso fares there.
