Ferrari plan to come up with five upgrades at 2012 Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari will come up with five upgrades in the car at Chinese Grand Prix which is going to be held at Shanghai International Circuit on April 15, 2012 in order to reduce the gap to the front.
Pat Fry, the technical director of the Scarlet team has estimated that the updates will help them in closing the gap to the front of the field by 0.8 seconds in dry conditions.
The Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari took an amazing victory at the second race held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia while he secured fifth place finish in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia even after struggling
qualifying.
Alonso is currently leading the drivers’ championship with his last couple of incredible performances.
Moreover, Fry who ruled out the podium finish in the first race of the season after the last pre-season test held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, said that he could never expect that any of the team’s drivers could lead the championship.
“I certainly wasn't expecting to have one driver leading the championship,” he told Ferrari's website.
Nonetheless, Fry has expressed that they still have plenty of work to do in certain areas so as to improve their performance in the season ahead.
“From quite early on in testing, we realised we had quite a few issues we needed to sort out. Everyone at the factory has been working hard at that, as we still have a long way to go. I think our dry qualifying performance is still around 8 tenths off the
best while we want to be the best ourselves. Damp low grip conditions suit our car and flatter some of the issues we have with the F2012 at the moment,” said Fry.
Besides, he said that they are going to bring some updates to enhance the pace of F2012 at Shanghai. However, he said that the major upgrades in the car will be brought by them ahead of Spanish GP.
He also said that they are trying their best to make the necessary improvements and the essential preparations for the upcoming races.
