Ferrari plan to come up with some essential updates in 2012 Indian GP – Formula 1 news
Ferrari test driver, Marc Gene has said that they are planning to come up with some essential updates to improve the pace of their car in the 2012 Indian Grand Prix which is to be held at Buddh International Circuit this weekend.
Fernando Alonso of the Scarlet team lost his lead in the drivers’ championship to Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing after the veteran German driver claimed his third consecutive win in the Korean GP.
Although, the Spaniard has performed tremendously well in the season until now but after facing retirement in two out of the last five races, his position became weak as he lost some crucial points in the championship battle. Nevertheless, he came back really
well in the preceding race and secured an impressive third podium finish.
However, he is 6 points behind the defending champion and the Italian team is trying its best to make the necessary developments in their car in order to help their star driver to take the lead again.
Gene has said that they are eying to take the best advantage of their upgrade package in the forthcoming race and are earnestly hoping that Alonso wins the championship.
“But we do hope they help,” he said.
“All the time there are less and less races, so we are doing everything to end the championship with even a single point more than second place,” added Gene.
Besides, Ferrari chief designer, Nicholas Tombazis said that even though they are expecting to face few difficulties with their updates. Nevertheless, he asserted that they have found some solutions which will help them in resolve the issues.
“We ran control tests on these updates to really understand what the problem was. We got some very interesting answers which we believe will allow us to recover from those problems,” he said.
It is to be noted that ex-F1 driver, Niki Lauda has said that the Milton Keynes based team is also looking forward to introduce some upgrades in their car which can create problem for the 31-year-old.
“If that goes well (for Red Bull), then it becomes very difficult for Alonso,” he told the broadcaster RTL.
