Ferrari prepared to put an end to the teams’ decision regarding rule changes – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has said that he and his team are finally ready to make an agreement with the rest of the top running teams of the sport regarding the new regulation changes regarding the off-throttle Blown Diffusers.
After scoring the first race win of the season, Ferrari recently announced that now they are ready to announce their decision which would be for the betterment of the sport rather than their personal gains.
“I think that this thing was not really good for anyone. We need to draw a line and look ahead because otherwise where are we going? Even if I don't agree with the process that was taken, I think that for the benefit of the sport that [we take] action,”
said Domenicali.
Other than that, he added that the rest of the teams might have a different motive but Ferrari are going to take action even if they have to in order to make the sport better. He claims that he urges his team to focus on the development of the car more rather
than discussions as the team wants to succeed in the sport based on its skills and performance.
“When you think with the bigger picture, you need to think with a wider opening in your mind. I have to say that I don't think all the people are behaving like we are,” he said.
This rule change has been the topic of the weekend at Silverstone as the officials seem quite confused about making this rule change. It was announced during the race weekend of the British Grand Prix that the decision regarding this rule change might be
reverted after which the teams ended up arguing about what they want unanimously.
After a lot of arguments and discussions, the officials announced that the restrictions regarding the usage of off-throttle Blown Diffusers would remain intact until the end of the race weekend.
The officials on Sunday morning held a meeting with the teams to discuss these regulation changes further after which Ferrari and Sauber announced that they will announce their final verdict regarding this matter later on.
Other than that, the rule changes did not affect the top running teams’ performance during the British Grand Prix much and gaining a tenth or two is more dependent on performance rather than rule changes.
Ferrari secured the win at this weekend’s British Grand Prix and claiming that it was because of the rule changes will be unjustified as the team scored this victory based on their strategy and tactics rather than the change in technology.
