Ferrari president Luca Montezemolo feels pleased with the team’s performance – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team president, Luca Montezemolo has said that he is very much pleased with his team’s performance in 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 129 points and is 13 points ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing. Moreover, he was the first driver who claimed two race victories in the current season.
It will be interesting to mention that the Spaniard claimed an incredible pole position in the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone Circuit after two years. Although, he could not convert his pole position into a race victory, however, he secured an inspiring
second podium finish.
On the other hand, his teammate, Felipe Massa also showed an impressive pace in the last race as he secured fourth place finish after setting off from fifth grid position. Additionally, it has been his best performance in the season until now.
At present, the Brazilian driver is standing at 13th place in the drivers’ rankings with 23 points along with Michael Schumacher of Mercedes. Besides, he is ahead of Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber and behind Paul di Resta of Force India.
Meanwhile, the Scarlet team is at second place in the constructors’ championship with 152 points. In addition, they are 8 points ahead of Lotus and 64 points behind the defending champions.
Montezemolo expressed that he is very happy with the efforts which his team has made in developing the car. He also said that that they have proven themselves capable of winning in all types of conditions and are positively looking forward to perform well
in the forthcoming races.
“Fernando drove a great race after a great qualifying, putting a Ferrari on pole for the first time in a long time,” Montezemolo said. “And I am also very pleased to have seen that Felipe was very quick, fighting hard and consistently throughout the weekend.
It was very important for him and for us, because it is partly due to the points he scored that we have moved up to second in the Constructors' classification. In this recent phase of the championship, we have shown that we are competitive whatever the conditions
and on all types of track.”
