Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo claims rehiring Ross Brawn will not solve anything – Formula 1
Ferrari’s president Luca di Montezemolo has recently stated that even if the team re-hires Ross Brawn, their performance will not change much.
He said they need to work hard and make some small repairs to get the team back on its track.
“The management of the team will remain unchanged. There are some small repairs to make, but it is not related to the key positions,” said di Montezemolo at the Frankfurt Motor Show, according to Finland’s Turun Sanomat newspaper.
According to some reports, it has been revealed that the Tifosi have advised the team to rehire Ross Brawn in order to secure some good results in the future.
“The abolition of track testing penalised us strongly, as ours is a culture of the mechanical, unlike the English aerodynamics. And then there are the rules that are too restrictive on the engines, with the technicians frustrated with their inability to
increase the horse power,” said Montezemolo.
Luca claims that he does not regret anything as the team is trying its best and they are going to make things right once again by using the proper strategy which does not require a single person only.
“The hiring of Ross Brawn has been proposed but surely it can be seen how hard he has had it at Mercedes. We have chosen the path of stability. Should I be sorry? No, because we are always among the protagonists,” he is quoted as saying by Corriere della
Sera.
The 2011 Formula 1 season has been nothing but a disappointment for the team as they have secured just a single race win in 13 races. The 2010 Formula 1 season was not bad at all as Fernando Alonso led the championship until the very last race but lost his
lead at the grand finale at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
Nevertheless, one has to admit that things can change drastically for Ferrari if they decide to replace Felipe Massa who has not secured even a single podium this year. Massa has been way off the pace of the top-running drivers of the sport since his return
back in 2010.
