Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo feels proud of his team – Formula 1 news
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said that he is proud of his team which has fought for the drivers’ championship very well throughout the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Montezemolo said that they have tried really hard to help their driver, Fernando Alonso in winning the championship title, but unfortunately their best wasn’t good enough and they lost only by a slightest margin.
Although, he said that they are a little bit upset over the result, nevertheless, he congratulated the Spaniard for his tremendous performance and praised his driving skills.
In addition, he also admired the performance of Alonso’s teammate, Felipe Massa who secured an incredible third podium finish in the season finale.
Besides, he called the Brazilian driver a great team player who allowed the two-time world champion to pass him, in the final race at Interlagos.
“I am proud of my team,” Montezemolo said. “We fought all the way to the bitter end, getting both our drivers onto the podium for the final race of the season. When you miss out on the title by the smallest of margins, naturally there is some regret. I want
to congratulate Fernando on what he has done this year: his season has been simply fantastic. Felipe drove very well in the second half of the season and demonstrated once again that he is a real team player.”
Additionally, he appreciated the strategies of the team principal, Stefano Domenicali due to which they didn’t face any technical issues in the season. He also admired the efforts of all the team members who have worked persistently to ensure the reliability
of their car.
Furthermore, he said that they are now focussing to make the necessary preparations for the next season in order to come up stronger right from the start with the most competitive car to win the title.
The Italian team has successfully secured second place in this year’s constructors’ championship, ahead of their main opponent, McLaren.
It will be very exciting to see how the most successful team in the history of the sport performs in the next year and how it competes with the other rivals.
