Ferrari ready to take on Red Bull - Formula 1 news
Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa are ready to take on the challenge from Red Bull, despite the fact that the reigning world champions appear to
be in better shape compared to their main rivals.
There was a lot of uncertainty at the start of the 2012 season, as no one appeared to have a competitive advantage over the other because of the high degrading
Pirelli tyres. As a result, there were seven different winners from the first seven events.
However, the top teams got better understanding of the tyres with the passage of time and Red Bull eventually emerged as the best of the lot, winning both the constructor’s
and drivers’ championships.
Since there have been no major changes in the rules and regulations this year, the current champions will be in a better position compared to where they were in
2012. Therefore, everyone is expecting them to come out strongly in Australia.
However, Alonso stated, “It is difficult to judge rivals - it's impossible. You cannot go to the training grounds of Barcelona football club and see if they will
win Sunday's match – as they are only warming up. But we can be closer to Red Bull and McLaren, who will be the strongest this season.”
The Spaniard missed out on the championship by just three points last year. He was in a very good position at one point of the season, but Vettel turned things
around with four consecutive victories.
Alonso was helpless on a few situations because he did not have the car to challenge for victories regularly. On the other hand, his team-mate Massa almost lost
his seat because of a streak of bad performances.
The Brazilian seems to be quite confident at this stage though and said, “We are positive that we can start better season compared to last season, and I hope we
can do that. So if we finished fourth last year then why can we not do better this year?”
It has been quite a long time since Ferrari have won a championship, but the entire team seems to be confident about breaking the shackles this time around.
