Ferrari chief designer Nikolas Tombazis has said that they have planned to introduce some major updates in F2012 for 2012 European Grand Prix which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain on June 24.
Tombazis said that they have been trying their best to make the essential advancements and the necessary preparations so as to improve the pace of their car for the forthcoming races in order to fight for this year’s championship title.
Furthermore, he said that they are very much pleased with the team’s performance in the season so far. However, he asserted that there is a strong need to keep pushing hard as the competition is very tough.
“At the moment, we are reasonably satisfied with point we are at now, given where we started from. However, we cannot be totally happy, as we are not in position to dominate races, or indeed to win all of them, which is always one's objective. We have very
strong competitors who are also continuing to develop their cars,” he said.
In addition, he said that they are aiming to launch some necessary updates for the race ahead which mainly include modifications in the car’s front wing and the floor.
“Our work is continuing at the same intensity and, our plan is to introduce developments at every race, starting with Valencia: this weekend we will be experimenting with front wing and floor, while having further evolutions of exhausts,” he said.
It will be important to mention that the Italian team struggled throughout the pre-season testing programme this year. Moreover, they expressed that they would face difficulties in the first few races.
