Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali asserts they are not under any kind of illusion – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has said that they are not under any kind of illusion regardless of their lead in the drivers’ championship in the first half of the current season.
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari is presently leading the drivers’ standings with 154 points and is ahead of Red Bull Racing pair of drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel. However, Domenicali believes that the competition is very tight amongst all the contenders
therefore neither they are taking things easy nor they are fantasizing about their lead in the rankings.
“It's nice to see our fans are happy with that last result, but no one at Maranello is under any sort of illusion,” Domenicali told the official Ferrari website. “The fact we are leading the Drivers' championship with Fernando does not lull us into thinking
that everything is fine and we're cruising along with the wind in our sails; quite the contrary in fact.”
Furthermore, he said that they are expecting a huge strike back from the defending champions and McLaren in the Hungarian GP this weekend.
“Red Bull has always been very strong in Budapest these past few years and McLaren showed in Germany that it was back in front running form, after a slight dip at its home race,” he added.
Additionally, he said that no other contender like Mercedes, Lotus, Williams and Sauber can be underestimated as all the teams have been coming up with some sound developments in each and every grand prix.
Besides, he said that they have been working extremely hard to make the required preparations and the significant advancements in the season so far and hopefully will carry on their developmental process until the end. He also said that they have planned
to make some major advancement in their car after the race in Budapest.
At present, the Scarlet team are at second place in the constructors’ championship with 177 points. In addition, they are ahead of McLaren and are behind Red Bull who are at the top of standings with 230 points.
Let’s see how the Italian team performs in the approaching races.
