Ferrari team president Luca di Montezemolo: I'm very confident about the 2011 Formula 1 season
The Italian team, Ferrari, is all but happy. Its team president, Luca di Montezemolo believes that the team factory has done a brilliant job with the car, which seems very promising, for the upcoming 2011 Formula 1 season.
Since after the last practice session, the team has not only undergone a change of name for its new car but has also got substantial upgrades in this season’s package. The team has been reported to carry several tests on its car for 2011 title battle, at
the Vairano circuit, in Italy last week.
Until a little time back the car was called, F150, a name given to it in tribute of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. However, the Ford motor company sued the team for stealing the name of its famous truck.
After this week’s name change, the dispute of the team with Ford has been resolved. Moreover, the team also carried several "secret tests" to test the changes brought in the car after the last test.
While talking to the media the Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said, "Pay no attention to the testing times. Only two things are certain; we are very happy with our reliability as we are the team with the most mileage. And from the very night of the
infamous missed kick without a goalkeeper in Abu Dhabi, I have seen a great desire for redemption. So I'm very confident."
However, the Williams technical director Sam Michael and some other leading race analysts believe, "Red Bull are a half-second ahead of Ferrari."
Ferrari also confirmed on Sunday that with an Italian driver, the team has conducted some very important aerodynamic test on the Vairano straight, Italy. It was further revealed that further detailed testing will be carried by the team driver, Fernando Alonso
and Felipe Massa at the last pre-season testing.
The five day long fourth pre-season test is underway in Barcelona at the moment and will continue until Saturday, this week. The team has decided to skip the first day of the test as all the teams are supposed to run only four days; Ferrari's testing will
begin on Wednesday and end on Saturday.
