Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali aims to fight for podiums in Europe – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali is aiming to fight for podium finishes in the Formula 1 Grands Prix in Europe which are about to begin in three-week time.
The Scarlet team has been planning to launch a major update for the next race in Spain in order to enhance the pace of F2012. Moreover, Domenicali hopes that it will prove out to be quite helpful for the team in securing the podiums in the approaching races.
“Now we must look to the future and make a step up in terms of quality which should allow us to fight for the podium and not just a points finish,” he said after last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix. “That's what I have been asking our engineers for several
weeks and by Barcelona, I expect to already see the results of the effort we are expending in every area.”
On the other hand, the technical director of Ferrari, Pat Fry said that they need to make the best of the efforts in order to enhance their pace as compared to their contenders. He also said that all the teams will come well prepared in the Spanish GP while
he expects a strong tussle amongst all the rivals.
In addition, he said that they need to keep on making the substantial advancements and the essential preparations so as to improve their performance in the races ahead.
“We limited the damage in these four races, but clearly we must make significant progress compared to the others in the coming ones if we want to really fight for the title,” said Fry.
Even though, Ferrari struggled throughout the pre-season tests, however, their driver Fernando Alonso has been performing reasonably well in the season so far and he is currently standing at fifth position in the drivers’ championship with 43 points.
Furthermore, the Spaniard has expressed that they are in a convincingly better position after the first four races of the season regardless of a car which is not competent enough as compared to other teams.
The Italian team has a great potential to fight for the championship title as they are trying their best to secure competitive finishes in the F1 European season ahead.
