Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali claims the situation is getting much better – Formula 1
Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has recently claimed that the situation at the team is getting much better now as they are improving their car and understanding the characteristics of the team’s capabilities more clearly.
Fernando Alonso managed a 3rd place at Monza this past weekend and it was quite disappointing for the team as it was their home race and they were expecting much more from both of their drivers.
“Clearly Ferrari must always aim for victory and a third place is not and should not be something to get excited about, but the team worked well, keeping its cool and concentrating and, step by step, the situation is improving,” he said.
Felipe Massa on the other hand disappointingly finished behind Michael Schumacher in 6th place as a result of which they are getting extremely weak in the constructors’ standings. Since Massa has not been able to score good results
consistently after his return to Formula 1 in 2010, the team is struggling to make a point or prove its worth in the sport.
Ferrari are one of the most legendary teams in the history of the sport and Alonso is living up to their expectations but Massa must improve his performance in order to secure his spot at the team for the future.
“Honestly, this result is the best we could have hoped for, given our current technical situation. The fact Fernando is second in the Drivers' Championship is amazing and I think it highlights the stuff our driver is made of,” the Ferrari team boss said.
The 2011 Formula 1 season was a one sided run throughout as Sebastian Vettel led the championship since the Australian Grand Prix. Even Red Bull Racing team as a whole performed outstandingly as they are currently way ahead of their rivals in the standings.
McLaren are facing the same issues as well but their drivers are performing really well. Their problem is consistency and that is what both McLaren and Ferrari should focus on in 2012.
