Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali praises Felipe Massa – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has said that he is very pleased with the efforts of the team at the British Grand Prix.
Domenicali said that the team has been able to bag the biggest points haul of the year and that is a huge achievement. Fernando Alonso drove really well as usual and did well to finish at second place. Domenicali admitted that when Alonso lost his lead to
Mark Webber he a bit disappointed but that is just in the heat of the moment.
After the race he realised that the result is a very good one for the team as Alonso was able to gain lead on most of his rivals. The best part of the race was that Felipe Massa who has been in a constant struggle to perform did really well in the race to
secure vital points not just for him but for the team as well.
Massa finished fourth and looked good enough to challenge for a podium finish. That is the biggest cause for happiness for the team Domenicali said because the Brazilian has been under tremendous pressure to see him perform was definitely a good sight.
Ferrari has moved second in the Constructors Championship behind Red Bull. The team will be looking to fight for the top spot now that both drivers are delivering the goods.
“We were at the same level as the team everyone reckons is currently the best and be sure, it definitely is. And we also held our own against some very strong competition from other rivals. Certainly, there is much more to do to improve the car, especially
in terms of top speed, where we are still suffering. We now come to a pair of back to back races in Hockenheim and Budapest, for which we will try and improve our performance level still further: that will be our primary goal over the next few days,” said
Domenicali.
Ferrari will look to gain more points at the coming races in Germany and Hungary to try and topple Red Bull from the top spot. It will be a difficult task as Red Bull has a strong car and both of their drivers are in good forms especially Webber, but if
Ferrari can get more performance out of the car it is possible.
