Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali wants F2012 to be the quickest car – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has said that they need to keep pushing harder to improve the pace of F2012 so as to fight for this year’s championship title.
The Scarlet team struggled during the pre-season testing programme this year with creating a sound understanding about their car. Moreover, they expected to face problems during the first few races.
However, they have been making the considerable developments and the essential preparations since the in-season test held at Mugello circuit in Italy to enhance the performance of their car.
In addition, their driver, Fernando Alonso has successfully limited the damage for his team and is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 129 points ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing. Furthermore, he has won two races in the season so far
and has secured three podium finishes.
He claimed an amazing pole position after two years in the qualifying of the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone Circuit. Contrarily, he could only secure second podium in the race as he faced difficulty with the tyre degradation.
On the other hand, his teammate, Felipe Massa also came strong in the preceding race and secured an impressive fourth place finish after starting from 5th grid slot.
Although, Domenicali said that they have been able to make some crucial progress in the season until now. Nevertheless, he said that the competition is very tough this year and they must keep on making the considerable advancements to improve the performance
of their car so as to win the championship battle.
“I think it is not a single factor. It's a lot of things that are rolled together and it's a matter of keeping the right work code at the start, it's a matter of keeping the right approach to reliability, a matter of keeping the development coming week by
week. The Mugello test was important but after that test every race we brought some other pieces. It's really important to keep that as a spring together with all the other areas. With such a tight competition, if you are behind in one area then it could be
a problematic end to the season.”
