Ferrari technical director Pat Fry admits McLaren are stronger – Formula 1 news
Ferrari technical director, Pat Fry has said that McLaren are currently stronger than them and are surely in a more competitive position as they have secured better results in the last couple of races.
Fry said that they still need to push really hard so as to come up to the level of the Woking based team which has performed exceptionally well in almost all kinds of circumstances and track conditions.
Moreover, he said that Red Bull Racing have also been very competent in the season so far. However, he said that if their driver, Fernando Alonso wouldn’t have been hit by the accident caused by Romain Grosjean of Lotus in the previous race then he could
have achieved more until now.
“From a technical point of view, the outcome of the race shows that the McLaren is very strong on very different circuits like Budapest and Spa, therefore we still have a lot of work to do to get to their level,” he said. “Red Bull too was competitive but
I think that Fernando could have had better of them if he'd raced.”
Nonetheless, he said that they are confidently looking forward to perform at their best in their home race which will be held at Autodromo de Monza.
“We now look forward to special event that is Monza, both because it is Scuderia's home race and also because it is held on a track that is now unique on the current calendar in terms of its characteristics,” he added.
In addition, he said that they are preparing themselves to provide the Spaniard with the car which is capable of taking victory in the race ahead.
Besides, he said that they are very much pleased that Alonso is fine and the crash has not resulted into some severe injuries as it seemed extremely dangerous at the time when it happened.
Additionally, he expressed that their star driver is ready to join the championship battle again and is targeting to maintain his lead in the drivers’ standings in the remaining season.
Above and beyond, let’s see how the Italian squad performs in the forthcoming races.
