Ferrari technical director Pat Fry believes team needs to improve for future – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team technical director Pat Fry has said that the team needs to get a wake-up call.
Fry wanted to talk about the future of Ferrari in the sport, he believes that the team has lost its lustre in the last few years but they need to work towards dominating the sport once again.
Ferrari dominated the sport when Michael Schumacher had joined the team ending in 2006 and since the team has not been able to show the same kind of success they had with the German driver by their side.
Ferrari though was able to win the 2007 and 2008 titles but in the following years up until 2011 they have underachieved. The team president Luca di Montezemolo took notice of the dip in form of the team and aggressively addressed the team to work hard and
improve for the 2012 season.
The team started the season in a poor fashion as they miserably failed to impress with the new Ferrari car for the current season. Although the team has been able to work on the car and have improved it a lot from its first release but it is still not one
of the best cars on the grid.
Fernando Alonso has driven brilliantly to keep the time where it is at the moment while his team-mate Felipe Massa has struggled score points, leaving Alonso to do most of the work.
Alonso is leading the current season with 164 points and the team is placed fourth in the constructors and are moving on the up.
The team has still half the season left to work hard and are still in contention for the constructors title. Te season has been very competitive and this has lead to a lot of teams and drivers to struggle. The unpredictability of the season has led to negative
comments by drivers and team personnel while some have excelled and like the competition.
It will be interesting to see how the team fares as the season progressing to the second half after the summer break is over. The next race is scheduled for 2ndSeptember 2012 at Spa in Belgium.
