Ferrari to reveal its new car before the first pre-season test session, January 28th – Stefano Domenicali
Stefano Domenicali announced officially that Ferrari will reveal its 2011 Formula 1 car three days before the first pre-season test session in Valencia that is expected to take place on the February 1st.
Ferrari was one of the best teams on the 2010 Formula 1 grid as they were able to secure 3rd place in the constructors’ standings, one spot behind McLaren. Fernando Alonso drove the car over the limit in the second half of 2010 and secured the
drivers’ standings lead. He was able to maintain it until the grand finale in Abu Dhabi; however, Sebastian Vettel snatched the lead from him and secured the title for his team Red Bull Racing. It is believed that the team was unable to give a good “team performance”
since Fernando’s teammate Felipe Massa couldn’t perform up to the mark.
It seems that Ferrari will be the first team to showcase its 2011 Formula 1 car officially as they will reveal it on January 28th, while most of the teams will launch their new cars at the first pre-season test session.
The team is expected to launch its car at “Wrooom” media event in the Italian Dolomites. Ferrari will follow its tradition of keeping a launch show ahead of the first practice session.
The car has been designed in an upgraded wind tunnel and the team is hoping for the best possible result in 2011. They are aiming for nothing less than the titles. According to the head of aerodynamics Nikolas Tombazis, the car will be significantly upgraded
before the first race that is expected to take place in Bahrain.
“We are expecting a fairly big step up for the first race. The configuration has a lot of development potential,” he said.
The fans are expecting a lot from Ferrari this time and since KERS and adjustable rear wings will be allowed in 2011 season, it would be interesting to see how the team manages its car in terms of weight and pace.
