Ferrari want Felipe Massa to improve his performance in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari have said that they want their driver Felipe Massa to improve his performance in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit de Monaco in Spain on May 27.
The Brazilian driver has been struggling with his pace in the season so far. He has only been able to score 2 points in the first five races and is at 17th position in the drivers’ championship.
On the other hand, his teammate, Fernando Alonso, with his impressive performances is standing along with the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing at the top of drivers’ rankings with 61 points.
Ferrari said on their official website, “The Brazilian had picked up 49 points two years ago and 24 the following year, while so far this season he has just 2. In Montmelo, Felipe was very unlucky, both in the race and in qualifying, but everyone, he more
than anyone, is expecting a change of gear starting right away with the Monaco Grand Prix, his second home race, given that he lives just a few hundred metres from what, as from next Sunday, will be transformed into the paddock for the sixth round of the 2012
championship.”
In addition, the Italian team tweeted that they were disappointed with Massa after his unfortunate performance in the qualifying of Spanish GP. However, they have explained it as a poor use of grammar and clarified that they were disappointed by the adverse
outcome of Massa rather than the Brazilian driver himself.
Moreover, it will be important to mention that there have been a lot of discussions regarding Massa’s replacement with Sergio Perez of Sauber-Ferrari who secured an incredible second podium finish in the second race held at Sepang International Circuit in
Malaysia in rainy conditions.
Nevertheless, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali said that they are ready to provide Massa with everything which he may need so as to enhance his performance in the races ahead. Furthermore, Perez also expressed his commitment with his team
for this season.
Additionally, it has also been reported that two other drivers which include, Paul di Resta of Force India and Mark Webber of Red Bull have been considered as potential replacement for Massa in Ferrari team.
