Ferrari will launch 2013 car at the end of January or in the start of February – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has said that they will launch their 2013 car at the end of January or in the early days of February.
The Italian team struggled a lot with the design of F2012 throughout the pre-season testing programme this year. Furthermore, their technical director, Pat Fry even ruled out the chances of a podium finish in the season opener and expected to face immense
problems in the first few races.
However, their driver, Fernando Alonso performed inspiringly well and efficiently limited the damage for his team as he scored points with an amazing consistency throughout the year.
Moreover, he led the drivers’ championship for quite a long time and was considered as the strongest contender in the title fight.
Unfortunately, he was retired in a couple of races due to which he lost some crucial points in the championship.
Even though, he fought exceptionally well until the end of the season, but he still lost the championship title to Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who performed tremendously well in the last few races with the fastest car in the field.
The Spaniard lost the title by just 3 points to the veteran German driver and Domenicali believes that this difference was due to their uncompetitive car. Therefore, he has insisted that they need to take the most out of the winter testing in order to hit
back in the coming season right from the start.
Besides, he said that they will come up with the final version of their next year’s car in the last days of testing or in the first race which will be held in Australia.
“Clearly we have only been concentrating all our efforts on the new one from a few weeks before the final race, given we pushed right to the end on this year’s,” Domenicali said.
“The 2013 car will be launched at the very end of January or the early days of February,” he said.
“As usual, the first one will be just a launch version, while the complete one will be seen in the final days of testing or in Australia, so as to make the most of all the time available,” he added.
