Ferrari will not change their approach despite losing points at Suzuka – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that they are not going to change their approach for the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season despite facing retirement in the Japanese Grand Prix.
Alonso lost some crucial points in his championship lead because of his retirement in the previous race held at Suzuka which was caused by a tyre puncture happened due to a contact with Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus in the opening lap. Although, he is still at
the top of the drivers’ standings but his lead has reduced to just 4 points after his main rival, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing scored an impressive victory in the preceding race.
Nevertheless, the two-time world champion is not feeling upset over his unfortunate retirement in the last race and is positively looking forward to perform well in the upcoming races. Furthermore, he said that they have been trying their best to keep on
making the necessary advancements in their car so as to improve its pace and insisted that they will not change their approach in the rest of the season.
In addition, he admired his team for all their efforts in the season so far and said that they just need to keep on working hard on their development process in order to make their mark stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“We are pushing from the first test in winter, so nothing has changed now for the last five races,” Alonso said. “We just need to keep doing the things as we have been doing so far; it's been nearly a perfect championship for us at the moment with very good
strategies, good starts, good approach for races and everything we had in our hands on a Sunday we always maximised the points. We had one zero in Spa and one zero in Suzuka by things completely outside of our control, so apart from that we don't need to change
too many things.”
Besides, he said that he is aiming to score points with consistency in the remaining five grands prix to maintain his lead in the championship battle.
