Ferrari’s Felipe Massa: Hungarian Grand Prix was difficult with intermittent rain – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that the recently held 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix was a difficult race with intermittent rain.
Massa added that he lost a lot of his time during lap 8 when his car spun and the back of his car hit the barrier. The rear wing of his car was damaged when his car hit the wall. Meanwhile, the Ferrari engineers confirmed him that he can continue the race
at the Hungaroring race circuit, as the hit did not cause a substantial damage.
The Brazilian took a positive start in the Budapest race weekend, where he had a trouble-free Free Practice session and qualifying round.
The team driver seemed to be competitive during the Qualifiers of the Hungarian Grand Prix. He secured his fourth place for Sunday’s race.
After starting his Budapest race from the fourth position on the racetrack, he ended up at the sixth place for his team.
Talking to reporters, Massa said, “When it began to rain after lap 40 - but also at the start - the conditions were very difficult: you had to absolutely avoid the white lines because they were extremely slippery and it was like driving on ice.”
He went on to mention, “Now we have a bit of a holiday: I will head back to Brazil to be with my family and I always enjoy spending time in my country. I am sure that when I come back to Europe, it will mark the start of a second part of the championship,
a better one than the first.”
The Maranello-based outfit driver stated that he is sure he can finish his race on the podium at the Hungaroring race circuit if he had not faced the incident during lap 8 of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Apart from that, the 30-year-old driver is happy with his teammate Fernando Alonso’s podium finish in the Budapest race.
After the Hungarian race weekend recently, Ferrari are hoping for a strong finish in the second half of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage their race in the remainder of the season.
