Ferrari’s Felipe Massa: Lewis Hamilton is a clever guy but he needs to calm down – Formula 1
Ferrari’s Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa has said that the McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is a clever guy but he needs to calm down.
Massa stated that when a driver is pushing too hard and mistakes are happening then he should calm down. Such is the case with Hamilton at the moment who is trying hard to compete against Vettel but in the process is hurting other drivers.
Massa added that the Brit is paying for his mistakes as he received a penalty in the Monaco Grand Prix and suffered an early exit in the Canadian Grand Prix when he crashed into his own teammate, Jenson Button.
Massa stated, “When you have some difficult races, when maybe you're trying too much, you have to calm down a bit. It would be better for him too, because he was paying for it. He was penalised in a few races. And it wasn't just with me he even hit his own
team-mate! But Lewis is a clever guy and I'm sure he is already knows this.”
Hamilton’s to-the-limit driving style sometimes add up to the spectacle of the race, as it happened in the Chinese and Spanish Grands Prix, but sometimes his style is criticised heavily when he puts a foot wrong, just like it happened in the Monaco and Montreal
races.
In the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton crashed into Massa and the Brazilian went on to retire from the race after hitting the sidewall.
In Montreal, Hamilton tried to overtake his own teammate in somewhat a dangerous move and in the process, damaged his car’s rear suspension and retired. This provoked former Formula 1 drivers to say that Hamilton’s aggression is dangerous.
However, Hamilton himself stated that he is not going to change his driving style just because a few bad things happened on the track.
Nevertheless, the Formula 1 world will move to Silverstone to unfold the ninth chapter of the 2011 season and it will be interesting to see how the Brit performs in front of his home crowd.
