Ferrari’s Felipe Massa dissatisfied with his performance at 2011 Italian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa has recently stated that he is not satisfied with his performance at the 2011 Italian Grand Prix where he finished in 6th place behind Michael Schumacher.
Meanwhile, Massa’s teammate Fernando Alonso finished in 3rd place just inches behind Jenson Button.
“I can only be disappointed with this sixth place, because today I could definitely have fought for a place on the podium. Unfortunately, the incident caused by Webber cost me too much time and I dropped to tenth place,” he said.
Sebastian Vettel dominantly won the race ahead of McLaren’s Jenson Button which was quite disappointing for the team as they were looking quite good throughout the weekend and Massa could have secured even more points.
Felipe on the other hand had a minor collision with Mark Webber during the early stages of the race but his car remained unharmed.
“The collision with Webber did not do any damage: he hit my wheels and that pushed me into a spin when we were at the second corner. I braked slightly late, taking the inside line and, going round the outside, he would never have got past,” said Massa.
The Brazilian might go through some issues if he fails to finish strongly until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season. He has already been struggling to perform since 2010 and the team might change its mind about keeping him for 2012.
Massa has been highly criticised since his return and the team has also come under fire for its decision of keeping him this long despite the fact that he is not coping up with Fernando Alonso’s pace. As a result, their constructors’ performance has been
extremely disappointing despite the fact that Alonso challenged for the titles quite affectively in both 2010 and 2011.
With most of the remaining races scheduled to take place at Asian venues, it seems that Ferrari might not be able to perform at its best there since RBR’s car would suit those tracks more compared to its rivals.
