Ferrari’s Felipe Massa hopeful of getting good results in 2011 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa is hopeful of getting good results in the upcoming Indian Grand Prix, which will start from Friday, October 28, 2011 at the recently unveiled Buddh International Circuit.
Massa talked to the media and said that he has experienced the Buddh International Circuit by spending a lot of time in the simulator.
He added that the racetrack is nice and that it has some similarities to the Korea International Circuit.
However, the Brazilian driver stated that he hopes they can show strong performance in this area during the race this weekend.
Massa commented, “However, that's where comparisons to Korea end as it should be much hotter this weekend and also because we will run the Soft and Hard tyres from Pirelli, historically not the ideal choice for the 150º Italia.”
On the other hand, Pirelli confirmed that the sets of soft and hard tyres will be used in the Indian Grand Prix. However, Massa is wary of tyre issues for Ferrari with the set of hard compound for the upcoming Indian race weekend.
The Maranello-based outfit had issues with hard tyres by Pirelli in the initial races of the 2011 Formula 1 season. Both of the drivers made a lot of struggle during the races on this compound in the initial stages, especially in the 2011 Spanish Grand Prix.
Apart from that, the 30-year-old driver added that the deaths of IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon and MotoGP driver Marco Simoncelli over the last 10 days were a reminder of the risks involved in Autosport.
He went on to mention, “Simoncelli was such a nice guy and one of the characters in the sport of motorcycle racing and a great talent. Coming so soon after the death of Dan Wheldon, who was a friend of mine, these have been really difficult times and it
is just unbelievable that these sad events happened just one week apart.”
The team driver is placed at the sixth place with 98 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship after completing 16 rounds of the ongoing season.
Let’s see how Massa manages his race at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit this weekend.
