Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso termed the best driver in Formula 1 history – Formula 1 news
Renault’s former team principal Flavio Briatore has said that Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso is the best driver in the history of the sport, as he is performing very well on the grid in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Briatore also mentioned that he believes Alonso can win the 2011 world championship at Ferrari if he wins next couple of races of the ongoing season.
Briatore was the manager of the two teams of Formula 1, which included Renault and Benetton. He was forced to resign from the sport, as he was involved in the 2008 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix spygate scandal.
Talking to reporters, an Italian businessman said, “Fernando deserves to be the best driver in history. He has decided to be with Ferrari until the end of his career and I hope he can get the cars to win more titles than Schumacher. I am a Ferrari tifoso
(supporter), but in life you never know - anything can happen.”
The 61-year-old added, “He is one of the few great drivers with Senna, Prost and Schumacher. They are two totally different drivers. Fernando is a little better, because when Michael becomes depressed, he falls back, while in the same situation Fernando's
concentration sharpens.”
Alonso had a disappointing start to this season, as he was unable to perform well on the grid due to lack of his car’s pace.
Despite his poor start in the season, the Spaniard struggled a lot with his new car and started making improvements in terms of performance race-by-race. However, the 30-year-old driver seems competitive on the grid since the last few races of the ongoing
season.
In the recently held 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, Alonso took a good start and ended his race on the last stair of the podium.
After a positive race weekend in Budapest recently, Ferrari are looking forward to successful races in the second part of the season.
Let’s see how they perform in the next races of this season after coming back from the summer break.
