Ferrari’s management is quite stable currently – Luca di Montezemolo
Ferrari’s team president Luca di Montezemolo has been constantly forcing his point that Formula 1 would be better off without the back running teams and that each team should be allowed to have 3 cars. However, Luca stated that it doesn’t have anything to
do with what Ferrari has planned for 2011. He believes that Ferrari will have a strong competitive car next season and they will hopefully secure the title or at least challenge for it.
Since the team has a driver like Fernando Alonso with them, the team is quite confident and they believe that with a good car, Fernando is unstoppable. After the blunder Ferrari made at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the team does not want to finish under the
top this time. It won’t be as easy as it seems though since Mercedes is also expected to join the top running teams for the hunt for the titles next season and with 4 teams running for the title actively, it is definitely going to be even more dramatic than
the 2010 Formula 1 season.
“We will not repeat the mistakes of the past. There will be a few job changes and adjustments but nothing dramatic, just the normal process of good people from the second row moving forward. With Pat Fry from McLaren, we have only brought in one man from
the outside, and this happened long before Abu Dhabi,” Montezemolo insisted during an interview.
The team does not hope to change its management structure and technical staff much and it seems that up until now, Pat Fry is the only notable addition to the team.
He believes that Ferrari will focus on the beginning of the season and try to take the advantage over its rivals at an early stage to decrease the burden for later on.
“We improved significantly this year compared to 2009, but - as was the case the previous year as well - Red Bull had the best car. Next time we must have the best car from the first race,” added Montezemolo.
