I have 2 pet ferrets. One is Potty trained and the other is much younger and is not. We have done almost everything and it doesn't see to work. We make the baby go to the bathroom before play time and have 3 litter boxes in the cage. The whole floor is basically cover in litter boxes but she still wont go in them. We put her in them all the time but the only thing she does is sleep in them. We are very up set that she wont use the boxes to go potty. Do you have any tips on how to teach her?

  1. okay, ferrets usually go to the toliet not long after they wake up so when you catch her waking up put her in the litterbox and keep putting her there until she has gone to the toliet and reward when she has.

    - also what litter boxes are you using some ferrets like different types try the ones that are square so she can get her whole body into it.

    - also try placing some of her poo in the box, not very much because ferrets wont go in a dirty box(make sure your cleaning them out reguarly, it being dirty might be one of the reasons your ferret isnt using it) she should then smelt where she last went and go there.

    - when she has an accident make sure you clean it up properly ferrets tend to go where they last went, this will prevent her from having another accident.

    - make sure the boxes are near, when they need to go they will just go.

    - you could fill the cage with bedding, ferrets dont usually go to the toliet on theyre bedding so it will leave them no choice but to go in the litter pan.

    - fill empty corners with food bowls, water bottles, toys.

    - if you see her using her litterbox then praise her and reward her loads.

    good luck:)

  2. Ferrets are not easy to train. They can be stubborn and sneaky. Even trained ferrets will sneak into a corner. All I can say is hang in there, be patient and keep trying. don't give up.
