Ferret Questions?

I have a few questions about ferrets.

1. How much time do they need to be out of their cage? And while they are out for those hours would it be a bad idea to have a sort of leash, long enough so they can run around in a certain room, but now so they can go all over the house?

2. Also, is it possible that a nice long walk would be okay? I have heard that the cement can be hard on their feet? What would be a good distance for a young ferret? What if it is a hot day? Could the cement be too hot for them? Also, when walking them, should I stick to grass with him/her or can we go on the cement?

3. If you were to have a ferret roaming, freely, how fast would it be? If in a game of chase etc, would it be hard to catch the ferret? Like for example, you had to put it in its cage, would the ferret be easily caught?

4. What is the average cost of a ferret?

At least 2-3 hrs a day.. unlike dogs they dont understand that the pulling means to stop..and they will hurt them selfs... you can get the a play pen to run around it or play with them in one room

I would stick to grass.. Ferrets dont sweat their normal body temp is 102 so they over heat easy.. so stay in doors on really hot days.. oh and one thing you need to understand is they will lead you.. you cant pull them or try to walk a certain direction and expect them to follow.. uless they are trained to do it they wont

3. They are curious animals if there is a will there is away. They arent hard to catch if you know where they are.. but they do get into some tight spots so need 100 percent attention when out of the cage

4. Well I adopted all of my ferrets..so they only cost me $65 each.. but a kit from the pet store is about $130

a cage is about $100-200

Food is about $30 (you need to have them on two good ferret food mixes.. they are picky and if one ever stops sale your screwed.)

toys- depending on what you get any where from $1-$50

vet-30-600

vits and grooming-$35-50
