  1. There are playpens you can pick up, and some can even be linked together to make larger play area.  This way he can run free and enjoy himself, but you don't have to chase him.  This might make you feel more comfortable playing games with him to tire him out, too.  There are a lot of chasing games, cat teasers, and things like that which will tire him out more quickly.

You can also try ferret-proofing the room so that there isn't anything for him to get into.  This is what most ferret owners do.  This link provides a list of things to consider when ferret-proofing:  http://www.ferretvillage.org/viewtopic.p...  Keep in mind that you may not have to worry about every single one with your ferret.  For example, mine never cared about cords, so I haven't had to go nuts protecting them.

The other option is to keep up with the leash and harness work, but try to do it in ways that you'll enjoy more.  You can try walking your ferret or something along those lines.  However, as most good ferret care guides suggest 4 hours outside of the cage daily, I can see why you're going nuts just keeping up with one on a leash!

If none of this works for you, you need to look for a new home where they can engage his energy properly.  After all, you want him to have a great life and not feel neglected.

  2. Make a ferret-proof area where he can run around. Mine have their own room to play in! =D

  3. There is nothing you can do about a ferret's energy. You should have researched them more before you got one. They have an extreme amount of energy and need a lot of attention. If you aren't willing to play with him every day you should think about giving him away to someone who will.

Maybe you can even buy him a play area that has fencing so you can sit in it and play with him[and he can't get out]

    Just a thought.

  4. Try taking him for a walk outside. You can just sit with him and he'll play around. Mine walks with my dogs. He has a route that he likes to run alongside my house and then inside. If I walk him at least once before bed, he stays calmer. You can also get a cat toy, a string on a pole with a toy on the end. Stand still and move it back and forth in front of him. He'll chase it, and if you keep it just out of reach he'll chase it.

  5. i would take it to the vet.
