  1. I prefer ferrets cause hamsters bite!

  2. Ferrets can be VERY stinky!!!  Hamsters can bite.  Having had both...I'd lean towards the hamster. Easier to take care of but noisy at night...a catch 22!!

  3. def go for a ferret.. they are SO much fun. Hamsters in my opinion are kinda boring. A ferret is so playful and they have such a unique personality. If you get two,  you will have a ball watching the two of them play. I only have one. I used to have three when I lived in FL but that was too much. I have one female and she is litter trained already. If you dont have much time to devote to one, then def get a hamster. But if you can commit to spending time with a ferret EVERY day, I would say no doubt pick a ferret, I love my Lola, she is so cute and so much fun to play with. They will for sure entertain you. They love humans and will demand  your attention. Just make sure you can give it the attention it deserves. Plus like someone else said hamsters bite and it HURTS!!!

  4. I rather ferrets. They are very cute and he/she is very fun to play with. When I give my ferret a ball it's very entertaining to watch her chase it around!

  5. You should base your decision on more than "cute and entertaining" -  ferrets are super cute but not always easy to care for.

  6. I heard ferrets are the stinkiest pets. I had a hamster and he wasn't fun at all. He slept during the day and made alot of noise at night (plus he didnt like any type of interaction and he always tried to escape) I recommend a rabbit. They are like mini dogs. They're very sociable and do funny things

  7. I say Hamster

    Cuteness- Hamster

Entertaining- Hamster(put it in the little hamster ball!)

    Playful- Deffie Hamsters!

  8. Either can be cute, entertaining and playful, depends on how they're kept and raised. Other considerations are:

    1. Hamsters are smaller, have a two year lifespan, are more delicate and are very susceptible to a fatal disease called "wet tail". They only bite when afraid or are struggling to get away.

    2. Ferrets are bigger, more hardy and live longer - about seven to eight years on average. However, they MUST be neutered before reaching puberty (10 - 12 months usually). If not, they will stink (natural musk) and will die of aplastic anemia if they don't breed. Also, they are predatory and their bite is much more damaging than that of a hamster.

Check your local pet store for a series of books titled "XXXXX As Pets". These little books are cheap, available for almost any animal you can imagine and cover everything from history to care and breeding of the title animal. Failing that, a web search for "Ferrets" and "Hamsters" will give four or five pages of websites devoted to these little critters.

Good Luck. Hope you decide on the perfect one for you.

  9. these are two VERY different pets with VERY different needs & lifestyles. it's kind of like asking the same question between a horse and an elephant. there is no comparison between ferrets & hamsters...so it all boils down to personal preference and the time/money available for a serious commitment.
