  1. ferrets may not be your best choice, you may want a hamster or rat because first ferret cages HAVE to be big, they cost a ton, and it is hard to clean the cage, but if you can take on the challenge responsibility you should get one!

  2. they are very cute and energetic but they require a lot of attention. they are also related to skunk so they have a "stink gland" and tend to spray everywhere, they can be quite smelly.

i would go with a guinea pig if i were you. they are adorable and don't smell badly, plus they are much cheaper to own

    hope i helped:D

  3. Ferrets are great pets if you're a ferret person. They are extremely intelligent (they can open cabinetry) and very loving. However, most people don't realize how much time they take to keep them happy. They don't like to be alone AT ALL and unless you're willing to be with them so many hours of the day, I wouldn't recommend getting one. They are also very smelly - even when demusked - and they potty a lot due to a short intestinal tract. That also means they have to have a constant supply of food available or they genuinely risk starving. And the term "ferret-proofing" was invented for a reason. They chew and play on everything. I suggest finding someone who owns a ferret and spending time with them to see how that ferret lives and how that person copes.

  4. I have a blast with mine, I even take it out , when I'm going some place, she likes to ride in the hood of my jacket or in my back pack

  5. they destroy the place

  6. ferrets are great pets but they areillegal to own in some states and they get really smelly

  7. I'm a ferret person, so I'm biased, but I think they make excellent pets and would trade my two dogs for two ferrets in a heart beat.

They're friendly, affectionate, playful, (mostly) quiet, and they sleep the vast majority of the day so they can be alone during the day while you're at school or work. They can even get along with cats and dogs, if they're supervised.

I really can't think of any bad parts to owning my ferret. I don't think he smells that bad, and I clean his cage once a week. When I clean his cage, I put my ferret in my bedroom, which is ferret-proofed (no electrical wires, holes, etc) and it takes about 10 minutes to change out the bedding and wash the cage with soapy water.

I think the only bad part is, initially, they're kind of expensive. My ferret was almost $200 and his cage was another $200, but those things aren't his fault.

  8. Having a ferret is a large responsibility. They go poo almost every hour and it's stinky, and since they need such a large cage it can be difficult to clean out, it's possible to litter train your ferret but not all ferrets take to it. You will want his cage in a large and ventilated room or the smell will get very offensive. They are very enjoyable pets and are so smart. Aside from the cage maintenance they are a very good pet and will give you years of fun.

  9. a friend of mine had ferrets and they were the worst smelling pets i have ever come across. so be prepared for very smelly living conditions.....other wise they are very cute
