  1. Their smell is greatly reduced when they have been neutered. Which you need to do if you don't plan on breeding as hobs can become aggressive and smellier during mating seaon and the jills can die if they are in season for a long time without being mated or given the 'Jill Jab' by the vet.

You should also think of getting a couple of ferrets if you're going to house them outside. Ferrets are very sociable animals and need company.

They'll be fine outside in a large rabbit hutch with hammocks and toys.

In the summer you need to make sure the hutch is out of direct sun light as ferrets don't sweat and can over heat  and die. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and if the weather is extremely hot you can fill a plastic bottle with water and freeze it, place that in the hutch and it will help the ferrets cool down. Check the bottle regularly for any chewing.

In the winter just put loads of fleece blankets and old clothes in their bed area. They'll burrow into it. Vet bedding is also ideal if you make it into a sack. Ferrets grow a thick winter coat so that will help. Also make sure the whole hutch is covered in the winter.

  2. how about a cockatiel!

  3. That would be animal cruelty. A ferret needs to live inside and live comfortably.

  4. If you're going to keep it in the garage or outside, then I wouldn't get one. Here's why.

The ferret will have trouble adapting to the weather, and if you keep it in the garage, the fumes from your car can lead to cancer for the little guy. It sounds silly, but it's true.

Why don't you try getting a guinea pig? (I know you said not to tell you what to get, but if you can't keep the ferret inside, you may want to consider a different pet.)They don't stink as bad.

    Hope this helps!

  5. why get a ferret!!!??

i dont think its a pet

    what about a cat

hey why the thumbs down lol

i am just trying to help

  6. They hardly smell if they are neutered, and you reguarly change their bedding and litter tray..

ferrets do not tolerate heat so in the summer you would have to provide them with frozen bottles of water wrapped in a towel, a cat litter tray with a bit of water in it, you would also have you spray them with water..

in the winter you will have to make sure they have a nest box filled with blankets, lots and lots of warm bedding, and a heat pad
