Ferrie Bodde, the Dutch midfielder, has said his goodbyes at Swansea City after his contract expired with the English Premier League side.
The 30-year-old ran out of his contract at the end of June and has now left the English outfit to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/ADO-Den-Haag-c38221 to train with them. While he is currently training with his hometown club, he is yet to decide on his long term future.
Even though Bodde’s time at the Liberty Stadium was marred with fitness problems, the Dutchman always had support of the fans. He is currently on the road to recovery from a third cruciate ligament injury and revealed he was sad to be leaving Swansea City.
Bodde said on Swansea City’s official website:
“It feels as if I'm leaving home (Swansea) to go home (Den Haag). After five years here, I'm going to miss Swansea and its people.”
After five years at the club, Bodde admitted he was certain he would miss the place and the people. He was extremely grateful to all the fans for their support, especially through the times he had been sidelined with various injuries over the years.
The midfielder began his senior career with local side ADO Den Haag in the summer of 2000 when he was 18 years old. After seven years he had over 150 games under his belt, along with ten goals after which he left the side to join Swansea City in 2007.
When he arrived at the club they were in the League One, but earned a promotion to the Football League Championship the very next season. After three injury riddled seasons in the Football League Championship, Swansea finally earned a promotion to the Premier
League.
He continued:
“It's been frustrating at times with all the injuries, but the fans have always been very supportive and warm towards me. That support has helped me fight my way back from the injuries and I will always be extremely grateful to them for that.
Playing an important part in the side that clinched promotion to the Championship under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 was a big highlight for me, along with experiencing the first Swansea versus Cardiff derby in the Carling Cup.”
