Ferries from portsmouth to france?

Wich is the cheapest way to travel from portsmouth to france in a car with 3 adaults??

We're going Portsmouth to St Malo in August - Brittany Ferries was the cheapest at £396 for car, 2 adults, 2 kids and a cabin for 4 each way.  

Will be cheaper without the cabin, but if you go overnight you might have to book one.

The overnight crossing is longer at around 10 hours, but we thought it would be exciting for the kids to sleep in a cabin overnight, like a mini cruise.
