Ferris signs new deal with Ulster
Key flanker Stephen Ferris has agreed to a two-year contract extension on his current deal at Magners League side Ulster.
Ferris' current contract with the club was due to cease at the end of the current season. However, the extension guarantees that he'll be an Ulster player through the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
He said: "It means everything. This is home, I was born and raised here, Ulster is the team I've always followed and I have a huge desire to achieve something big with the club. I don't want to leave Ulster without winning something."
This is great news for the club from Northern Ireland because Ferris is one of the best players that the club has under contract. He has plenty of skill and ability that will ensure he stays in the side for a long time.
Important news
Flanker is one of the key positions in any rugby team. Ferris is extremely quick and is the ideal player to put in this position. His pace makes him a threat going forward and an asset getting back.
Mentally this news will allow the player to concentrate on rugby. He seems very happy to have signed the two-year extension and should raise his performance in Ulster's next few games. Ferris is able to focus entirely on rugby, which should immediately improve his game.
The club will be happy because it will be one less thing that officials have to worry about. Had Ferris not signed on then the club would have been forced into finding an adequate replacement next summer.
Ferris added: "I'm competing against top quality players every single week for my place in the team, I've got to be training really hard and absolutely on top of my game to ensure I'm selected and that challenge keeps me hungry."
Betting advice
Ferris is a very explosive player with a lot of skill. He has the ability to score numerous tries against the best opposition. Have a punt on him to score in any game and to be top scorer by the end of Ulster's domestic season.
