Ferry - Puntarenas to Paquera, Costa Rica?

Does someone know, if the ferry from Ferry - Puntarenas to Paquera, Costa Rica takes cars, or just people?

Yes they do, but there are also smaller boats that just take people.

Way back in 1991, it seems I remember (at my age my memory is not in the best of shape), my wife and I took a rental car across on that ferry.  I'm about 88% sure I'm right.

It's about a 2 hour drive from San Jose to Puntarenas, where you cross the bay by ferry onto the Nicoya Peninsula.

From there it's about 1.5 hours drive to Mal Pais & Santa Teresa Costa Rica. Check points are Paquera, Tambor, Cobano.
