So, DH and I are suppose to start fertility testing and possible IUI to ttc our first child (we're both in our 30s, mild male factor issues - morphology 15%) and now it's my turn to get all of the testing done on me.
Among the testing is the HSG test where they see if my tubes are blocked...but here's the 'kicker', it's $1500.00 and insurance covers zero...in fact, insurance doesn't cover anything.
Does anyone know the stats on having blocked tubes? I have no history of stds, no history of endometriosis (which I have read are the major reasons for blocked tubes), no female problems at all that I know of.....so I am wondering if this test is *really* necessary? The Dr. said if insurance doesn't cover it, I may be fine to just skip this test..but I can't decide.
Any thoughts? Anyone with no known stds/endo, etc.. still end up having blocked tubes?
