I am 20 years old, my sister is 40. She and her husband have been trying to have a baby for almost 8 years without success, it has been determined that there is a problem with her eggs. If I do a one time egg donation to them, will this effect my fertility in the future? I really want to help me sister, but I also would like to be able to have kids of my own someday.

Serrious answers only please, this is something I would really like to do for my sister, she deserves a baby.

  1. I think that it is great that you want to help your sister, and i think that you should. God blessed you with over 400,000 eggs, if you donate a few it will absolutely not affect your fertility. there are plenty of women that, on a yearly basis, donate there eggs to women with fertility issues, and they (the donate rs) have kids of their own.

  2. No it shouldnt ! They take what they need not all of them

  3. Being an egg donor should not affect your future fertility. It is very generous and kind of you to consider ding this for your sister.

I would check with your sister's doctor to make sure that they will accept you as a donor. There will be some testing. Sometimes they only want women who have already had children but that may not apply since you are sisters and not from a pool of donors.

Also, please make sure that the entire process is explained to you before committing. It would be devastating to your sister if you were to back out after you found out all that was involved. (Not saying that you would do that). You basically would be doing an IVF and then the embryos would be transferred to your sister. There is a lot of preparation, injectable medications and an egg retrieval under mild anesthesia. There is also a lot of doctor visits during the process and you will have to be careful about how you eat and drink etc during that time.

Good luck! I hope that it all works out for you and your sister. It is truly a wondeful gift that you would be giving.

  4. Consult a doctor but I do not believe it will effect your fertility.

  5. no it should have no effect on your future ability to have kids!

and I applaud you for your kindness!!

  6. I don't think a donation of eggs would effect your future fertility.  It's a wonderfully kind thing you are considering doing.  You may want to consider talking to a reproductive counselor to verify that and also make sure you won't have any future issues with it.  Good luck!!!

  7. You are such a sweetheart for this so god bless you and no, from what i've heard it will not reduce your chance of conceiving in the future. Your sister is a lucky girl to have you and it sounds like you will be a wonderful mother someday:)

  8. Not at all this wont affect you, go tho a gynecologist and ask him all the questions you hacve he is the only one that can help you up.
