  1. I bought a cheap one that says for third trimester use. I am in my second trimester so I have 6 or so weeks before I use it :)

  2. the ones the midwifes use are from 15weeks onwards the ones you buy in the shops are last trimester only, so 20weeks onwards at the least, but ive heard women say many times on here there useless as don't pick the heartbeat up all the time, leading you to worry more!

don't waste your money id say, you hear it at 15 weeks and then every other time you go just ask the midwife to hear It but then by then you should be feeling baby move, so that should be good reassurance!

    congrats!

  3. I bought one off of ebay (Angelsounds) and first used it around 20 weeks.  It took patience and positioning but I did find the heart beat. I'm starting my 30th week and sometimes I have to try different positions to find the baby, but I've always found him.  I use regular baby oil on my monitor.  You can tell the difference between your heart beat and the babies, babies is much faster and sounds whooshy, if that's a word.  I've also gotten a wind tunnel noise sometimes, but the best sound next to the heart beat is hearing the baby move around.  Occasionally the baby kicks or hits directly at the monitor, which hurts the ears, but it's cool.  I'm overweight and it took longer for me to actually feel the babies movements but I heard them with the monitor and that eased a lot of my anxiety.  My side of the family lives about 1,000 miles away but I've let my mother and grandmother listen to the heartbeat over the phone, plus we've recorded the heartbeat and sent it via email to other family members. Overall I have to say that the 38 dollars I spent has been an excellent investment towards my sanity during this pregnancy.

  4. I bought one knowing that I would not be able to find it easily (it was not the hospital expensive one, only a $100 brand). I bought it AFTER my16 week appointment. We still had trouble finding it sometimes until I'm now in my third trimester, and can find it in seconds. I only use it now when she's not moving as much as I'm used to...but i've used it maybe a total of 6 times the whole pregnancy. I figure it will come to good use with the other pregnancies...but unless you had problems getting pregnant, and are extremely nervous. But, you have to not flip out when you can't find the heartbeat.

  5. I got a really good one called Hibebe.  Its excellent, you get great readings of the placenta, yourself and the baby from as early as five or six weeks.  I am 31 weeks now and have used it all the way through.

Look online for them.  I think it was about £70 but well worth it if your anxious like me!!

  6. I never wanted to spend the money, because I'm cheap.  I know my doctor sometimes has trouble finding the heartbeat, and she's an expert.  Plus, it gave me something to look forward to every 4 weeks.

  7. hiya the midwifes dont recommend you getting one in case u cant find it, i did however got one of those from mothercare where u put the headphones on (http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B00... but all i could hear was my tummy rumbling ha ha i ended up sending it back, if u do decide to get one why not hire one for the month when you are at a later stage of pregnancy and the baby is bigger, ive listed some sites where you can hire them from, these are the professional ones to, take care i hope all goes well, i cant wait to pop I'm 39 weeks now ha ha xxxx

  8. I bought one at a consignment store where I live for $8 but I haven't been able to pick up a heartbeat yet.  I am 14 weeks.  My doctor sometimes has a hard time finding the heartbeat so maybe it is just the position of the baby.  My 4 year old daughter loves to "listen to the baby".  In my opinion it is neat to have but I would not have paid too much more than I did for one.  Once you start feeling the baby move it becomes less important to find the heartbeat and more important to feel it move.

    Congratulations.

  9. hi i brought a digital fetal doppler and the web site said it can be used from 10 weeks but it only picked my heartbeat up i didnt hear the babys till i was 14weeks i tryed alot from 10weeks till then but it depends how the babys lieing and if your slim its ment to be easyer to find im a size 8 and i couldent find it but when you do at 14weeks you start to feel the baby move not long after the you tend not to use it lol im 17weeks and i havnt used mine since 15weeks
