  1. yes. that is why men have nipples.

    Check out the book.

  2. No, I wouldn't say that.  Gender is determined by the genetic makeup.

All fetuses look more like girls than boys in the early stages of development, though, so I'm sure that's what you mean, and yes, it's true.  I just wouldn't say they start as the female gender.

  3. Don't confuse genetics with biology.  At the point of conception, all fetuses are either GENETICALLY male or female.  This is because the eggs carry the X gene and the sperm will contribute either an X or a Y.  If it is an X, then the fetus is XX which is a girl.  If it is a Y then the fetus is XY which is a boy.  However, the BIOLOGY on how the s*x parts form and develop is a different issue.  It is in that way that some people say that everyone start out as females, and is also why sometimes there will be an error in the development process and you get someone who has both male and female parts.  In those cases, DNA testing is done to see if the baby is genetically male (XY) or female (XX).  Then the parents can make decisions regarding surgery to make their baby look on the outside what genetics say they are on the inside.
