  1. try Abreva

  2. Blistex.........(((BLUE JAR)))!!!! .........duhhh

  3. I get ANNOYING fever blisters often. you can get Abreva over the counter and works pretty good for me, I have prescription Zovirax cream and works GREAT, but it does work best if you catch when it is first coming on.I havent come across any good home remedies yet.

  4. I get them too, it stinks. I usually use abreva, but like you said, it works best when you apply it at the first sign of the blister. You could try that, it helps it not to hurt so much. Sorry i don't know of any medications.

  5. Abreva works for me

Also i think the licopene or something in ketchup is supposed to help

  6. Some non-pharmacological (non medicinal) things you could do are:

    - Keep lesions clean and moist

    - Avoid factors that may delay healing

    - Wash hands!

Like others said use abreva.  But you could also try things like benzocaine, dyclonine HCl, things that will cause it to stop hurting and itching.

You will, however, want to avoid things like menthol, camphor, phenol, and salicylic acid.  These will only further irritate the fever blisters.

You also might want to try white petrolatum or Herpacin L.  These are oral protectants and will help in the long run.

In pharmacy school, we are always told to dry out the wet and moisten the dry.  So if they are scabbed over, I would deffinitely use a chap stick of some sort, but remember to look at what's in it to make sure there isn't something that will irritate it more.
