Ok, you'd figure that being a mother for 10 years I shouldn't have to ask this question, but y children have been quite healthy and I don't usually need to seek advice. My son has had motrin in him for well over an hour and his fever is 103.1 - i have him stripped down to his underwear with a light blanket to get rid of the chills, he has a severe headache and backache and says his eyes hurt very bad as well. He has had fevers but still acted himself pretty much, he doesn't even want video games right now, as he is resting he is whimpering in his sleep. It is really scareing me. Am I over reacting to call the dr????

  1. Take him to the Emergency Room..better safe than sorry..

  2. 103.1 can be dangerous. It sounds like influenza and needs to be checked by a professional. Although Motrin is good at relieving symptoms, be careful because it can mask the severity of the fever.

  3. my  sons doctor said that when my son had a high fever to give Motrin and 2 hours later give tylenol and it broke my sons fever in 2 doses of each but when in dough call your sons pediatrician there should be some one on call

  4. his eyes are hurting because the fever is so bad.  I would go ahead and call the dr.  I would also try putting him in the  tub in a luke warm bath and try to get the fever down a little bit.

  5. Doesn't like bright light, headache and backache? Call the doctor NOW.

  6. i would take him to the emergency room. They will be able to get his temp lower that that... 103 is verrrrrrrry high!!

  7. Sponge him down-wash him off with cold water keep him in the water for a while like 10 mins then use alcohol to rub him down. If that doesn't help call the doc right away!!!!

  8. In a regular person 108` is to high.If it gets to 104 take him to the ER.

  9. Ok first off why did you remove clothing on him? If he has a fever he needs all the warmth he can get to preserve heat. Secondly a fever of 103.5 is somewhat concerning espically that he's complaining of a headache and eyes. Take him to emerge, asap.

  10. You need to look at the other symptoms with the fever.  Is he drinking and/or eating?    You MUST keep him hydrated.  If he can't drink then you need to see a dr.

If you are worried take him to the dr.   There's nothing wrong with getting him seen since there is obviously something wrong.    If he's whimpering when he's sleeping  I think it would be good to call the dr.

  11. 103.1 isn't that bad for that age.   Keep giving him the Motrin, put him in a lukewarm bath, and call his doctor tomorrow!
