  1. The dots on the fretboard are there for reference, you will use them for positioning as you learn fingering for different chords.

Any two notes together make up a chord.  So for your "F major" chord, you will need three notes:  F, A, and C.

Study chord charts, and don't start with F, it's hard.  G, C, and D are easy to learn and make up a large portion of common guitar progressions.

  2. 1) the dots on the fret board work mostly as a guide so you don't get lost on it. It also represents some natural harmonics, you can try lightly placing your finger over the dotted frets and plucking then quickly taking your finger off for it to sustain, woo fun!

    2) each fret represents a semi tone so if you want to play an F# you count up using semi tones to find it. An easy place to start is on the high E string then count up E, F, F# hint : it'll be on the 2nd fret. If you not familiar with this take a look at the link

    Hope it helps!

  3. 1. The dots on the fretboard are like landmarks so you can find your way around a little more easily when you play up the neck.  Usually there's one at the 5th, 7th, 9th and 12th frets, etc.

    2. You play different notes by pressing your fingers down on the strings at specific frets to shorten the strings and get the notes you want.  So for example, the first (highest pitched) string is an E, if you place your finger on the first string at the first fret, that raises the pitch of the string one half step (each fret represents a half step change in pitch) and you get an F.  Place your finger on the first string at the second fret, and you get an F#, placing your finger on the first string at the third fret gives you a G.  And so on.  The second string is a B; so then the note at the first fret is a C, the note at the second fret is a C#, the note at the third fret is a D, etc.  If you know what the open strings are tuned to, you can figure out all of the notes at all of the frets on each string for yourself.
