Few softwares fail to recogonize my Internet Connectivity - why?

Hi,

I use a dell laptop, with a dell wireless card for internet connection. Some of the softwares like Avira Antivirus, Voipraider, mozila firefox, Real media players says no internet connectivity, but at the same time I could able to browsse thro IE or Yahoo or google...etc. Even I noticed that I couldnt connect to some FTP sites. could you pls help me in fixing this... pls let me know if you need any specific details regd the sys spec..

Your programs are not recognizing the connection, try changing the settings for them
