http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam on the verge of appointing Ronald Koeman as their new manager – Eredivisie news
Reports from Rotterdam indicate that Ronald Koeman is likely to be given the coaching reigns at Feyenoord Rotterdam. The 48-year-old, younger brother of FC Utrecht’s Erwin Koeman, has remained unemployed following his sacking from AZ Alkmaar in December
2009.
The Rotterdam giants performed below par in the season ended and finished a modest at best 10th in the league table. The players were not convinced of coach Mario Been’s abilities. With growing distrust amongst the squad, the tactician decided
to step down from the managerial hot seat.
Huub Stevens earlier showed interest in the coaching http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at De Kuip Stadion, while Martin van Geel, De Stadionclub technical director, desired to lure Louis van Gaal to Rotterdam.
However, the recent reports indicate that the former AZ head coach would be succeeding Been at Feijenoord Stadion. Koeman has vast coaching experience as he has remained the head coach of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 and Barcelona.
The 48-year-old has enjoyed flourishing spells with Ajax, PSV, Benfica, Valencia and AZ. However, his most successful stint came with the Amsterdam giants, where he guided De Joden to two Eredivisie titles in his four-season stay at Amsterdam Arena.
Koeman will face a mammoth task at the financially stricken club. The outfit has clearly indicated the new manager will not be allowed to bring reinforcements in the ongoing summer transfer market. Furthermore, the tactician will also have to persuade a
host of players to prolong their stay at Feijenoord Stadion.
Nonetheless, with a proven pedigree, the Dutch trainer will be odds-on favourite to achieve success in his next managerial adventure.
