Reports from De Kuip Stadion confirm that Feyenoord Rotterdam’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gill-Swerts-c14897 will be returning to full training on Tuesday, October 11. The Belgian stopper sustained an Achilles injury at the end of the 2010/11 campaign and has been recovering since then.
The 29-year-old arrived at Feijenoord Stadion in January earlier this year, after making 46 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar. The right-back featured in 10 matches for the Rotterdam giants last term before he tore his Achilles tendon, which kept him at sidelines
for the past five months.
Swerts returned to Rotterdam earlier this week after spending five months in Belgium, where he was working on his rehabilitation process. The defender has expressed his happiness on his progress and revealed that he will return to the pitch before long.
The right-back also admitted that he will not rush his recovery and refused to set a return date.
“I'm happy with the way my rehabilitation is going so far. It may take a few days of care, but the road back in on schedule. I don't have a prediction about when I will be one hundred per cent. I will not be rushed but I won't delay if I can help it”, Swerts
said while talking to the journalists.
The 29-year-old then went on to reveal that he spent few months in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 for rapid recovery and will complete the final phase at the club.
“I have spent the past few months in Belgium working in peace, which I liked. Now it's time to return to Rotterdam, where I will complete the rest of my recovery”, Swerts concluded.
The Belgian International has an ongoing contract with the Rotterdam giants that is due to expire by the end of the 2011/12 season. However, some reports in Dutch media indicate that the Stadiumclub management would be offering the 29-year-old an extension
to his current contract in the coming months.
