Feyenoord Rotterdam’s Jordy Clasie signs contract extension – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports from De Kuip Stadion confirm that Feyenoord Rotterdam midfielder, Jordy Clasie, has reached an agreement to sign an extension to his contract. The new contract will keep the 20-year-old at the Rotterdam giants until the summer of 2015.
The young midfield ace had been holding talks with the club management for the past two weeks, as the Stadiumclub intend to tie the youngster to a long term deal.
Martin van Geel, the Rotterdammers technical director, has openly admitted that the youngster has already shown his class on the centre of the pitch.
“He's presented himself very well this season. Last season, (on loan) at Excelsior, Jordy had already shown that he is a very good player. This season he has proved in a very short space of time the value he holds at Feyenoord. Therefore we would like to
continue with Jordy, which means an upgrade of his contract”, Van Geel was quoted as saying to the media.
The 20-year-old is a product of De Stadionclub’s youth academy and started his professional career at SBV Excelsior on loan in the 2009/10 season. Since returning to his parent club in the summer of 2010, the midfielder made rapid developments to his game
and has established himself as one of the most valuable players in the Rotterdam giants’ squad.
For his part, Clasie is happy with the club showing confidence in his abilities.
“I was pleased to return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 at the beginning of the season. Early in the season the club indicated that they would like to keep me for longer. That suggests they have a lot of confidence in me. I'm glad we worked it out”, Clasie said while talking
to the journalists.
Reports have now confirmed that the 20-year-old will pen down an extension to his ongoing contract, which is due to expire at the end of the 2013/14 season.
